The First Trailer For "Pitch Perfect 2" Has Arrived

Well, despite my cynical nature and the bits with unnecessary projectile vomiting, I found myself charmed by the first Pitch Perfect. Even though this trailer for Pitch Perfect 2 looks pretty much like every Hollywood comedy sequel ever -- same formula, bigger budget, larger stage -- I'm still interested in seeing what Director Elizabeth Banks has cooked up for us.

As an actress, Banks has flirted with stardom, but hasn't really been able to establish herself in leading roles consistently. Her experience behind the camera is limited to a couple shorts and a segment in the comedy anthology, Movie 43, but she was a producer on the first Pitch Perfect, so her stepping up to helm the sequel seems a natural fit. If Pitch Perfect 2 hits audiences with the thunder of Fat Amy sledding down the sorority house steps, it will be a nice calling card for Banks.

Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, and Adam Devine are all returning to take the show on the road to the world championships of a cappella. Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Enders Game) joins the cast as one of the Barton Bellas new recruits, and Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Married With Children) is reportedly playing Steinfeld's mother.

With a May 15, 2015 release date, Universal is betting huge on this by planting it smack in the middle of the most competitive movie month of the year. Will you be there? Check out the trailer and drop a comment below, or tweet your responses to @settingtheframe.
